Draft Legislation from Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) bad news for northwest forests.

Senator Ron Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon, has recently posted on his web site draft legislation for his version of "protecting" the national and Bureau of Land Management forests in Oregon. Most of the politically astute in the conservation community feel that, for this bill to move forward, he will strongly be urging Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to come on board and the legislation would thus cover at least Washington state as well as Oregon. Conservationists will be meeting in May to discuss how to handle this. OFCO's board believes we should just work to kill this bad legislation.
