Olympic National Forest Seeks Input on Identifying a Sustainable Road System
According to a June 3 news release, the Olympic National Forest is hosting open houses asking the public to share the areas and roads they use on the Forest. This information will help the Forest identify a financially sustainable road system that meets diverse access needs, minimizes environmental harm, and is safe and dependable because it is scaled to available resources. The open houses will be held:
Tues., June 17, 4–7 PM, Clallam County Courthouse, County Commissioner’s Meeting Room, 223 E. 4th St., Port Angeles
Thurs., June 19, 4–7 PM, Olympic Natural Resources Center, Hemlock Forest Conference Room, 1455 S. Forks Ave., Forks
Wed., June 25, 4–7 PM, Quilcene School, Multi-purpose Room, 294715 U.S. Hwy. 101, Quilcene
Thurs., July 17, 4:30–7:30 PM, Port Townsend Community Center, 620 Tyler St., Port Townsend
Wed., July 30, 4–7 PM, Olympic National Forest Quinault Ranger Station, 363 South Shore Rd., Quinault
Tues., Aug. 19, 4–7 PM, Shelton Civic Center, 525 Cota St., Shelton
Thurs., Aug. 21, 4–7 PM, Rotary Log Pavillion, 1401 Sargent Blvd., Aberdeen
Wed., Aug. 27, 4–7 PM, Olympic National Forest Supervisor’s Office, 1835 Black Lake Blvd. SW, Olympia
The public can also submit comments online at www.fs.usda.gov/detail/olympic/home/?cid=stelprd3802976. Questionnaires are also available at any Olympic National Forest office. Comments will be taken until Aug. 31.
