Connie Gallant to receive Eleanor Stopps Environmental Award!
FROM CONNIE GALLANT: Friends and colleagues – as some of you may already know, I’ve been selected to receive the Eleanor Stopps Environmental Award on Wednesday, October 13th at 10:00 AM – it will be via Zoom. This Leadership Award, now in its 15th year, recognizes significant contributions in the protection and stewardship of the natural environment of the North Olympic Peninsula.
It is an incredible honor for me to receive such an award, I only wish my wonderful JD was here to share it with me, but I also know he’d been thrilled. Interestingly enough, I was selected for the award on the same day that he passed away, so when I learned of the selection, it was a bittersweet moment. I look forward to being amongst so many of my dear colleagues and friends who have also received the award named after an incredible woman who fought very hard alongside other women such as Lorna Smith, Helen Engle, and others, to designate Protection Island as an exclusive habitat for birds and marine wildlife. It was an unprecedented win that came to pass because of their commitment to protecting such a habitat.
