Ecology Draft Permit for Pacific Seafoods

The Olympic Forest Coalition (OFCO) and the Coast Seafoods / Pacific Seafoods / Dulcich settled the Clean Water Act litigation about the Quilcene hatchery in 2023. Dulcich agreed to seek the required permit for the facility in the settlement agreement. The Washington State Department of Ecology has worked with the company over the past several years on the permit and legal requirements. Ecology has issued the draft permit for public comment, due April 18th.

OFCO is working with experts to review the permit and comment. Our hope is the permit is strong and will help protect Quilcene Bay and Hood Canal habitats for species, public health, and the local economy. OFCO is not seeking to delay the permit process, nor disparage the company, nor appeal the permit, per our settlement agreement. We will post our official comment as soon as we have submitted it.

We would like to thank our members who have followed this case from the beginning and hope you take the time to read the documents and make comments.
